Ann Mitchell was born in Devenshire, England, March 1, 1829. While but a small child she came to Canada with her parents. She was married to Richard Chapman August 13, 1850 at Canada, later moving to Huron County, Mich. To this union six children were born, all whom remain to mourn their loss. The husband preceeded her to the other world about 9 years ago. She leaves her children- Wm Chapman, of Richmond; Mrs. Mary Beacom, of Marlette; John Chapman, of Shabbona; James of Memphis; Richard, of Berlin township; Robert, of Capac, and one adopted daughter, Mrs. Anna Lutz, of Marshall Mich; also three sisters, twenty-five grand-children and fifteen great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and friends.
The deceased was a member of the Capac M.E. church and previous to her coming to Michigan she was a member of the Methodist church of Canada. She died at 1 a.m., July 31, at the home of her daughter at Marlette.The funeral services were held from the Capac M.E. church on Wednesday, Aug. 2, Rev. S.W.F. Garnett officiating. Text, 1 Peter. I:24. The internment was in the Capac Cemetery.
