James had homes in Memphis 81095 Cole Rd. the famous family home called the stone house was at 1280 Kinney Rd (M19) James also owned property at Southwest corner of Masters and Lee Rd.
James became a naturlized citizen 5 February 1909 in the circuit court of St. Clair County, Port Huron, Michigan. This included his wife and sons. Daughter, Margaret was not listed on the document.

James T. Chapman
Memphis, March 7 - James Thomas Chapman, 89, resident of this vicinity nealy all his life died in his home here Thursday.
The remains are in the Barnard funeral home from where they will be removed to the Chapman home for prayers services at 1:30 p.m. Saturday. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in Free Methodist church with Rev. T. V. Deans, pastor, officiating. Burial will be in East Berllin Cemetery.
He is survived by his widow, a daughter, Mrs. Margaret Williams, Walled Lake; six sons, Richard Chapman, Dearborn, Malcolm Chapman, Detroit' Arthur Chapman, Monroe; Elmer Chapman, Port Huron and Ralph and Kenneth Chapman, both of Memphis; 18 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren.
Mr. Chapman had lived in Memphis since retiring from farming many years ago.
