    Arthur Chapman Obituary (Monroe Evening News)

    Arthur Chapman, 82, of 323 Lavendar St. died at 10:30 p.m. Thursday in the Lutheran Home for the Aged, where he had been a resident since February. Mr. Chapman had been ill for six weeks.

    Friends may call after 7 tonight in the Allore Funeral Home where services will be at 2 p.m. Sunday with the Rev. George E. Spencer of the First United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle.

    The son of James and Anna (McNichols) Chapman, he was born Dec. 21, 1892, in Capac. He married Grace White May 2, 1917, in Monroe.

    Mr. Chapman was a weighmaster at Consolidated Packaging Corp. for 44 years, retiring in 1958.

    Surviving are his wife, 3 sons, Arthur E. of Monroe, Ellis of Bath, Maine, and Herbert J. of Adrian: 2 daughters, Mrs. Raymond (Dorothy Ann) Pernia of LaSalle and Mrs. Frank (Shirley) Wiley of Monroe: 3 brothers, Elmer of Mancelona, Ralph of Memphis, Mich., and Malcom of Detroit; a sister, Mrs. Margaret Williams of Rochester; 16 grandchildren, and 13 great-great grandchildren.

    Preceding him in death were a son and two brothers.

    Services for Arthur Chapman, 82, of 323 Lavendar St., who died Thursday in the Lutheran Home for the Aged, were Sunday in the Allore Funeral Home. The Rev. George E. Spencer of the First United Methodist Church officiated and burial was in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, LaSalle.

    Bearers were David, James and Michael Chapman and Gilbert, Allan and Tim Pernia.
