    Melvin H. White

    TOLEDO - Melvin H. White, 69, of Toledo, formerly of Monroe County, died at 7:35 a.m. Saturday in Riverside Hospital, where he had been for two weeks. He had been in poor health for a year.

    Friends may call from 7 to 9 tonight from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday in Capaul Funeral Home, Ida. He will lie in state from 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday in St Andrew Evangelical Lutheran Church, 2040 E. Harbor Ave., Toledo, where services will be at 11. The Rev. Thomas Bartz, pastor, will officiate and burial will be at Roselawn Memorial Park, LaSalle.

    Born March 16, 1924, in Dundee, he was the son of Ernest T. and Louise (Ruehs) White. He married Josephine M. Mozak on Sept. 4, 1945, in Edmondton, Alberta. She died Sept. 26, 1987.

    He owned and operated Mel's Mobil Oil in Toledo since 1962. Before that, he was a mechanic on the Nickel Plate Railroad.

    He served in the Army in World War II.

    He was a member of St. Andrew's Church and the National Rifle Association and a life member of American Legion Post 110, Point Place.

    Surviving are a son, Melvin L. of Ottawa Lake; three daughters, Mrs. Pete (Judith) Markey of LaSalle, Mrs. James (Vicky) White of Lambertville and Ms Sherry Clark of Toledo; three sisters, Mrs. Clara Marsh of Ida, Mrs. Barbara Mehan of Clayton and Mrs. Margaret Mapes of Northwood, Ohio, and five grandchildren.

    Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or St. Andrew's Church.
